ConocoPhillips UK
Kelvin Development Project
Location:Southern North Sea
Project value:$150M
Project description:The Kelvin Field is located in UKCS Block 44/23b, approximately 12.2 km northeast of the Murdoch platform location, within the ConocoPhillips Carboniferous Heartland area of the Southern North Sea. The Kelvin Field is being developed for first gas in Q4 2007.
The development of the Kelvin field will be via a single platform well, drilled from a minimal facilities normally unattended installation (NUI) tied-back to the Murdoch MD platform. A 12.5 km x 12-inch diameter export pipeline with a 3-inch piggyback methanol line will be laid from Kelvin to a pigging skid adjacent to the Murdoch platform. The Kelvin facility will comprise a two slot, minimal facilities NUI platform, housing the wellhead and associated pipework, platform utilities (power generation and chemical injection), temporary accommodation for 12 persons and a helideck for access/egress. The Kelvin platform was installed Q2 2007 and drilling is being performed through end Q3 to allow hook-up and commissioning in time for first gas in December 2007.
