Seastream
Polvo Project

Location: Neitiro, Brazil

Project description: Devon Energy Corporation, an American Energy Company, is the owner of BM-C-8 Field located in the Campos Oil Basin in Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil .

The field development includes an oil exploration system, comprising 13 wells, 10 of which are for production and 3 are for water injection.  The estimated production is 50,000 barrels per day, achieved via a Fixed Platform and an FPSO, 1.5km apart which will be interconnected by means of a 10” WI flexible flowline, a 12”Production flexible flowline and an electrical umbilical.  The average water depth within the development is 100m water depth.

The installation of the FPSO and Fixed platform was completed in May 2007.  Phase 1 of the flexible flowline installation was completed in May 2007 when the 12” production flexible flowline and electrical umbilical were pulled in to the FPSO, free laid and the 2nd end pulled in to the Fixed Platform.  This was not the Phase I design configuration but a temporary scheme developed to achieve initial start up for the field after an incident during the Mid Water Arch in-installation.

Devon have contracted Seastream to carryout the Phase 2 subsea construction campaign which involves  the recovery of the 12” dynamic riser from the FPSO and return to Wellstream’s facility for repair.  Installation of buoyancy modules on the control umbilical to form a lazy ‘S’ catenary from the FPSO.  Installation of a new 10” WI flexible riser from the FPSO to platform  and re-installation of the repaired 12” dynamic riser.

Timing and duration: 6 months

Completion date:  2008

Our scope: Seastream sub contracted PDI to develop  the installation procedures for the 12” dynamic riser recovery & re-installation, 10” WI installation and Umbilical reconfiguration.  Manage the Lay Spead System mobilisation, installation and function test.  Specify and procure all project equipment required for scope. Fabrication of recovery mid water arch, hang-off davit and stern work platform. Construction Management through planning & execution phase of project, including provision of offshore engineers.

"At the completion of Seastream's first construction project I would like to thank PDI for their contribution to the success of the project.
Your comprehensive service, the high quality of your procedures, the high level of professionalism of your personnel, and your sheer hardwork made the job the success that it was.
All the above resulted in an efficient and safe offshore execution.
Thanks from us all at Seastream."
